Ingredients:

  • 15 oz tomato sauce (plain)
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp granulated sugar

Instructions:

  1. In a medium glass mixing bowl, whisk together the tomato sauce and tomato paste until the mixture is thick, smooth, and free of lumps.
  2. Drizzle in the extra virgin olive oil and add the oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and sugar.
  3. Crush the dried herbs between your palms as you add them to the bowl to release their aromatic oils.
  4. Whisk thoroughly to emulsify the oil into the tomato base.
  5. Let the sauce rest at room temperature for at least 10 minutes before using to allow the dried spices to rehydrate and infuse the sauce.
