Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves, packed
  • 1 cup bourbon
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 4 cups crushed ice
  • Fresh mint sprigs for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Combine water and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
  2. Remove from heat, stir in the packed mint leaves, and let the mixture steep for 20 minutes.
  3. Strain the mint leaves from the syrup and chill the syrup in the refrigerator.
  4. Pour the chilled mint syrup, bourbon, and lemon juice into a high-speed blender and pulse three times to combine.
  5. Add the crushed ice in two batches, blending on high until the mixture reaches a thick, frosty consistency.
  6. Pour into chilled glasses or silver julep cups and garnish with a fresh mint sprig and a lemon wheel.
