Ingredients:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 lb spaghetti noodles
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions:

  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the lean ground beef with diced onions until the meat is mahogany-colored. Stir in minced garlic for 1 minute.
  2. Pour in the marinara and oregano. Let it simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
  3. Cook spaghetti in salted water for 2 minutes less than the package instructions. Drain and toss immediately with melted butter to prevent sticking.
  4. Spread half of the buttered spaghetti evenly across the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  5. Spoon half of the meat sauce over the noodles, spreading it to the edges.
  6. In a bowl, whip the softened cream cheese, sour cream, parmesan, and garlic powder until smooth. Spread this mixture over the sauce.
  7. Layer the remaining spaghetti, then the remaining meat sauce.
  8. Smother the top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes.
  10. Optional: Broil for 2–3 minutes until the cheese develops a golden-brown crust.
