Ingredients:
- 1.5 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tbsp freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 2 slices thick-cut sourdough bread
- 0.5 cup low-moisture mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 10 slices thin pepperoni
- 1 tbsp pizza sauce
- 3 fresh basil leaves, torn
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, grated parmesan, garlic powder, and dried oregano. Spread this mixture evenly on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
- Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in a cold non-stick skillet. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on the upward-facing side of the bread.
- Layer half of the mozzarella cheese, followed by the pepperoni slices and torn basil. Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese to act as a binder.
- Place the second slice of bread on top, butter-side facing up. Turn the heat to medium-low.
- Cover the pan with a lid for approximately 3 minutes to ensure the cheese melts thoroughly. Remove the lid and increase heat slightly to medium.
- Flip the sandwich carefully once the bottom is mahogany-colored and crispy. Sear the other side for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and the exterior is golden brown.
